Is this course for you?

If you are an ICT professional or someone who designs and manages systems in big data environments, this course is for you! Knowledge about big data and IT is advantageous, but if you are e.g. a product manager just touching the surface of big data and security, this course will suit you as well.

What is this course all about?

This two-day course sensitizes regarding security and data protection and communicates basic knowledge for the application of security solutions in big data environments. You will discover cryptographic principles, mechanisms to manage access controls in your big data system, privacy preserving methodologies, as well as data protection regulations and concepts. By the end of the course, you will be ready to plan your next big data project successfully, ensuring that all security and privacy related issues are under control. You will look at decent-sized big data projects with privacy-aware and security-skilled eyes, being able to recognize dangers of data breaches or data leakage. This will allow you to improve your systems to a grown and sustainable level.

Marcel Schäfer

At Fraunhofer SIT I'm working in the field of data security and privacy. Besides I'm a member of the examination board of the data scientist education and certification program of the Fraunhofer Alliance Big Data.

Christian Winter

I'm working at Fraunhofer SIT in the fields of IT forensics and Big Data. My research focuses on fraud detection, efficient algorithms for data analysis, as well as privacy.

Rüdiger Grimm

I am professor emeritus for IT Risk Management at the University Koblenz-Landau. I am continuing my teaching and research on all fields of IT security and privacy.

At Fraunhofer SIT I am doing consulting esp for IT forensics, e-privacy, and security by design. Moreover, I am the SIT Ombudsman for good scientific practice and scientific methods.

York Yannikos

I work at Fraunhofer SIT in the media security and IT forensics department. My research involves forensic investigations, security evaluations, web crawling technologies, and darknet markets.

Martin Steinebach

I am head of the research department media security and IT forensics at Fraunhofer SIT and vice head of the security department at the Fraunhofer Alliance Big Data. Besides I'm a lecturer for Fraunhofer SIT and the TU Darmstadt in the fields of media security, civil security and IT forensics.
